About ECE Department

Welcome to the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE), Saranathan College of Engineering, Tiruchirappalli. The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering commenced in the year 1998.

It offers one Under-Graduate programme (B.E.), and one Post-Graduate programme (M.E. in Communication Systems). The UG programme was started with an initial intake of 40 students and increased to 60 in the year 2003 and extended to 120 in 2011.

The PG programme was commenced in the year 2004 with an approved intake of 18 students. The department is a recognized Research Centre of Anna University, Chennai from 2013. 

The Department has full-fledged laboratory facilities, modern facilities with an excellent infrastructure. The department has a blend of rich experience at doctoral level coupled with younger brains with a good supporting staff.

Programme Educational Objectives

  1. To provide the students with a strong foundation in the required sciences in order to pursue studies in Electronics and Communication Engineering.
  2. To give a broad exposure to the students in various topics related to Electronics and Communication Engineering fields.
  3. To dvelop the innovative skills in the students in order to solve the problems those are likely to arise in their professional life later.
  4. To inculcate in the students a professional and ethical attitude and an ability to visualize the engineering issues in a broader social context.

  1. Comprehend and demonstrate the principles and concepts of Semiconductor theory, Signal Processing & Embedded systems in the fields of Consumer Electronics, Medical Electronics and Defense Electronics.
